Hezbollah denies Israeli claims about forces entering Lebanese territories

BEIRUT, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) — The Israeli claims that its forces have entered Lebanon are “false,” said Hezbollah’s media officer Mohammad Afif on Tuesday, the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported.
“No direct ground clashes have yet taken place between the resistance fighters and the occupation forces,” Afif said, noting that “the resistance fighters are ready for a direct confrontation with the enemy forces who dare or attempt to enter Lebanese territory.”
Afif added that the bombing of the headquarters of Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad and the Unit 8200 base is “only the beginning.”
The Islamic Resistance announced earlier on Tuesday that it launched a barrage of Fadi 4 missiles at the Glilot base, which belongs to the 8200 military intelligence unit, as well as the Mossad headquarters located in the suburbs of Tel Aviv.
A statement released by Hezbollah said that the resistance also targeted the Doviv barracks with Falaq rockets as well as the gathering of Israeli forces near the settlement of Rosh Pina with a rocket barrage.
Meanwhile, Israel conducted on Tuesday morning several airstrikes and artillery shelling on several villages and towns in southern and eastern Lebanon, killing seven people and wounding 10 others, according to Lebanese military sources.
The casualties have been transferred to the Marjeyoun Governmental Hospital, the sources said.
Confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel have intensified following Israel’s announcement to broaden its war objectives to include the return of northern residents, who were evacuated due to attacks by Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas, has launched barrages of rockets at Israel since last October in solidarity with Hamas and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. ■
